Ascot Tips: Geneva Convention
Drawn low and raced on the slowest part of the track at Salisbury. Did well to finish in midfield under the circumstances.
After finishing eighth on debut, there might seem little to recommend Geneva Convention for the 2.10 Ascot but he ran much better than the bare form.
Drawn in stall 2, he led a small group up the far side whereas the main pack raced against the nearside rail. One by one his companions deserted him and switched to join the main pack and race on the better ground.
Considering Geneva Convention raced on the slowest part of the track and set an overly strong pace in soft ground, he did well to be only beaten 6.5 lengths.
Sea Fox, who also raced on the far side, has come out and won since and it is likely Geneva Convention is a good deal better than he showed at Salisbury.
