Ascot: Indian Creek

Clear-cut winner at Windsor in a fast time for the grade, although that might have been influenced by the soft ground. Profile suggests he is improving and that performance might be underrated.

With soft ground more common around this time of year, speed ratings can start to get a bit funky. The picture can also become complicated when you bring sectionals into the mix because the optimal spread of energy throughout a race can differ on heavy ground. The reason for these caveats is that when adjusting for pace Indian Creek clocked a whopping speed rating of 95 at Windsor, on soft ground.

It was comfortably the his best run of the season and a rare attempt at 6f. Proven over further, he clearly relishes a stamina test and although the going is good at Ascot I doubt it will be of the soft side rather than the fast side.

Still only a three-year-old and lightly raced he might be a good deal better than his price.
