Amazing Star A Massive Price

Amazing Star A Massive Price

Change of yard and a 35-length defeat are the negatives. But previous course winner and unlucky when only beaten a length three starts back.

Tipping Amazing Star to win the 7.40 Wolverhampton must come with a massive health warning. We was beaten out of sight on his last start and Alan Berry has a 1% strike rate on the all-weather. That’s the bad news out of the way.

The good news is he’s 50/1 (William Hill) and a winner at the track.

The 10-year-old finished fourth on three occasions at Wolverhampton over the winter and was only beaten by one length on his last visit to the track.

Amazing Star could consider himself very unlucky that day. Held up behind a steady pace (110.1% finishing speed), he never got a clear run and finished on the bridle.

He was comfortably the best horse on the day and on my sectional ratings he was at least 3.5 lengths better than the winner.

He may not longer be up to that standard but at 50/1 (William Hill), we don’t have to look too far back to find a scintilla of light.
