All-Weather Sprint Championship Final

Set a course record when winning a Listed event back in November and is unbeaten in two visits to the track.

With £93,000 to the winner the 4.05 Lingfield is an extremely valuable all-weather sprint and it brings together the best five and six furlong horses we’ve seen this winter.

The first issue to recognise is the race is over 6f, therefore the 5f specialists like Even Stevens and Stepper Point will be disadvantaged by the trip.

On my short-list, I have three last time out winners, Trinityelitedotcom, Tarooq and Valbchek and it’s difficult to split them.

All of them have run fast times but none are in receipt of sectional upgrades, their achievements came courtesy of well judged rides so we have to find something else to split them.

Tarooq has the widest draw and aged eight he’s unlikely to be improving making him the least fancied of the trio.

Trinityelitedotcom’s four victories on the all-weather have come by making all but in the strongest field he has encountered he’s unlikely to get a soft lead.

By default, this leaves Valbchek and there is plenty to like about his chances. He is 2/2 on the all-weather and sufficiently lightly raced to improve further. Ryan Moore on top is another positive and at 7/1 (BetVictor) he is a good price.
