Wolverhampton: Boom The Groom

Hasn't won since August 2016 but plenty of good runs in between and starting to become very well handicapped. Third run after wind-surgery and could be peaking for a race he's won before.

Most of the runners in the 6.10 Wolverhampton have taken it in turns to beat each other this winter but Boom The Groom comes in with a slightly different profile. The now 8-year-old hasn’t won since August 2016 but as a result he races off an attractive mark.

This is his third start after wind surgery and his light campaign might just mean there is more to come. He has by no means run badly on either start in 2019 but he will need to be close to his best to take this race.

A return to Wolverhampton works in his favour. He is a two-time course and distance winner including when taking this race in 2016. Orvar is his biggest danger but he’s finished ahead of Paul Midgley’s sprinter off level weights and this time receives 12lbs. This could be enough to end his losing streak.

*SP 8/1.
