2000 Guineas: Masar

Masar was a wide margin winner of the Craven and although visually impressive, he also performed well on the clock. Quickening off a steady gallop he covered the final 3f in 34.12s, a second quicker than anything else in the race. To put that performance into context he ran the 10th fastest closing sectional over the Rowley course from the last 947 runners, a performance achieved on good ground.

Masar was so impressive his closing sectional was similair to that of Brando and Sir Dancealot who finished one-two in the 6f Abernant just 35 minutes earlier.

Masar has a turn of foot and his speed could make him better suited to the Guineas compared to Saxon Warrior who looks more of a Derby prospect.
