Zurich Classic: NeSmith/Seiffert

Both are near career high rankings in the world and combined they have made 15 out of 20 cuts (last 10 starts respectively). Games have a nice blend and there is familiarity from Korn Ferry Tour.

The Zurich Classic is a refreshing change to the standard fare on the PGA Tour and you can get some unheralded names near the top of the leaderboard. Stallings/Mullinax gave us a run for our money two years ago and I learned from the tournament that you cannot carry your teammate. Both players need to be in some sort of form and I like the NeSmith/Seiffert pairing.

Both will be familiar with each others games having spent time on the Korn Ferry Tour together and both are enjoying good runs on tour. Matthew NeSmith has made 7/10 cuts including three on the trot. Whilst Chase Seiffert is 8/10 and on a streak of 5 consecutive cuts made.

Both players are inside the top-200 in the world rankings and at or close to career highs. In many respects they’ve got nothing to lose this week. The pair rank (individually) inside the top-60 for GIRs on tour and both gain strokes tee-to-green. There is a nice blend of explosiveness (Seiffert) and steadiness (NeSmith) which could suit this format of competition.
