Match Play Ideal Woodland Habitat

Hits it a mile and his putting has drastically improved which makes him a perfect match play golfer.

Gary Woodland has been unfairly pigeonholed as purely a bomber in the past. Yes, he is a prodigiously long hitter but his all-round game is excellent and his putting is particularly underrated.

The 29-year-old ranked 83rd for strokes gained putting last year, a massive improvement on 2012 when he ranked 178th. He also ranked 47th for 3-putt avoidance and 43rd for average distance of putts made.

Woodland has started the new season strongly with three top-15 finishes and he went close to winning the Farmers Insurance Open two starts back.

He lacks match play experience but has all the attributes to thrive in this format of the game and at 100/1 (Betfred) he is overpriced.
