Bridgestone Invitational Tips: Graham DeLaet

Firestone is the perfect test for the player ranked first for ball-striking and third for total driving.

At the start of the season it was a case of ‘when’ rather than ‘if’ Graham DeLaet was going to win his first PGA Tour event. It’s now late July and we are still waiting but perhaps not for much longer.

After a brief fallow period he bounced back to form at the Canadian Open with a T7 finish, a decent result considering the pressure of being home favourite.

At the WGC Bridgestone he can step out of the limelight and that should help him on a course ideally suited to his game.

This is DeLaet’s first visit to Firestone but he shouldn’t be daunted by the length; he is the number one ball-striker on tour and is ranked third for total driving.

Putting is his main weakness but the flat stick behaved in Montreal and he should go well at 70/1 (Stan James).
