Wells Fargo Tip: JT Poston

Driving the ball, which is what you need to do at Quail Hollow. Has found some form of late and made the cut at this event last year.

With the coffers full of Mullinax money (not overflowing but let’s not go there again) we are back to stroke-play on the PGA Tour and that is comforting from a punter’s perspective.

The way Trey Mullinax battled in Texas I wouldn’t put people off backing him again but instead i’m going with another favourite from the 2016 Web season - JT Poston.

The 24-year-old is much more of an all-rounder but he’s making the most of his limited starts this season, making 7/10 cuts. The T4 at the Shriners is the obvious highlight but top-30 finishes at the Corales Championship and Texas Open suggest he is rounding back into form again.

A decent driver of the ball, he’s been struggling with the putter this season (190th in strokes gained), a slight surprise because that was one of his strengths on the Web.com Tour but he might get away with it at Quail Hollow where some streaky putters have triumphed.

His game off the tee is a real strength this week with the course stretching out 7,442-yards and fairways hard to find. At a big price he is worth the risk.
