Web.com Tour Championship Tip: Roberto Castro

Twelve months ago Roberto Castro was playing in a very different Tour Championship after he finished 22nd in the FedEx Cup. It’s a stark reminder of the vagaries of golf that a year later he is chasing his card in the Web.com Final Series after finishing 172nd in the FedEx Cup.

Castro’s been here before. In 2015 he struggled on the PGA Tour but regained his card through the Final Series with finishes of 44-9-2-10.  So far this autumn he’s finished T55-T29 and therefore needs a good result at the Tour Championship to get through the mini series money list.

Atlantic Beach Country Club hosts for the first time after last year’s tournament was cancelled because of Hurricane Matthew and the course is a good fit for Castro’s game. This Floridan course isn’t dissimilar to TPC Sawgrass where incidentally Castro holds the joint course record.

Having been through the process before, Castro can handle the pressure on what is a huge week with careers seemingly on the line.
