Valspar Championship Tips: Justin Leonard
Joint leader going into the final round last year before settling for a T4 finish. Good form has continued into the 2013/14 season.
It has been a while since Justin Leonard last won (8 June 2008 to be precise) but Copperhead affords him a good opportunity to end the drought.
In the last four editions Leonard has finished T20-T20-T29-T4 and was joint leader going into the final round last year.
The forecast is for windy conditions on Thursday which plays to his strengths. Leonard is a previous Open winner and has plenty of experience playing in tough conditions.
The 43-year-old has also enjoyed somewhat of a renaissance over the past 18 months. He finished 91st in the FedEx Cup last year, his highest finish since 2010 and has started the season well with top-10 finishes at Mayakoba and the Humana Challenge.
Don’t be put off by poor results at the Phoenix and Northern Trust Open as neither course suits him. On a familiar track, he is a cracking each-way bet at 125/1 (William Hil) with ¼ odds for a top-5 finish.
