Texas Open: Sam Burns

Finished T23 last year when he couldn't get a putt to drop until round 4 and promptly shot a 66. Couple of missed cuts of late but form in 2021 has generally been excellent.

Sam Burns has seemingly cooled after a couple of missed cuts but they were on difficult courses and his medium term form has been excellent. His third place at the Genesis was top-notch and he has shaped like a potential winner in numerous events this calendar year.

TPC San Antonio could be ideal for him. Last year he finished T23 and ranked first for the number of pars! The putter failed him on the first three days (lost strokes to the field) but when it heated he fired a superb closing 66.

His length is a huge asset as it turns the par-5s into potential two shotters, which they aren’t for everyone. His game marries up well to 2018 runner-up Trey Mullinax and I would have expected him to be slightly shorter in the betting.
