Utah Championship Tips: Grayson Murray
Started the year with limited status but enjoyed a positive reshuffle and has four top-10s in eight starts.
Grayson Murray started the season with limited status after finishing T74 at Q-School however he’s made the most of his limited opportunities and can look forward to more starts after the mid-season reshuffle.
Murray has four top-10 finishes in just eight starts and is looking up. In an interview with the Web.com Tour website he spoke of his aim to finish in the top-25 of the money list and earn a PGA Tour card.
That isn’t crazy talk. The 22-year-old leads the tour in birdie average and is third in scoring average. In his last four tournaments he hasn’t opened with anything worse than a 68 and even when missing the cut it’s only been by the odd stroke.
One of the longest hitters on tour he should enjoy himself in the mountains at Thanksgiving Point and the 7,714 yard course plays to his strengths.
Smylie Kaufman came from nowhere to lock up a card on the Web.com Tour last season and Grayson Murray can do the same.
