Utah Championship: Taylor Pendrith

Shot 20-under but only good enough for T14 finish last week. Keeps him under the radar and another display of big drives and clutch putting could see him score at altitude.

Last week’s King & Bear Classic was mad. Poor Vince India had another Sunday to forget whilst shooting -13 didn’t even get you in the top-50.

Taylor Pendrith put himself in the mix over the weekend but despite averaging 309 yards off the tee and ranking second in putts per GIR he could only finish T14. He will play worse and win.

The bookies have reacted to that showing but not as much as i’d thought. He is still a healthy 80/1 with numerous firms and although this is his first look at Oakridge CC it should suit.

Scoring is generally low and situated just outside Salt Lake City, this 7,045-yard track plays even shorter when accounting for altitude. The Korn Ferry has already been in the mountains this season with the Colombia Championship played at altitude in Bogota. Encouragingly Pendirth finished T27 and wasn’t far off the lead.

Last year we almost hit the jackpot with Charlie Saxon (worth noting again) and Taylor Pendrith is in a similar mould - arguably even better. We need to get involved.
