Utah Championship Tips: Trey Mullinax

Led the field for GIRs last year on the way to a T11 finish and bust two 400+ yard drives.

The Utah Championship might be one of the oldest events on the Web.com Tour but course form is scant. Thanksgiving Point Golf Club hosted for the first time last season and the tour returns to the Mountain West.

On paper Thanksgiving Point measures a monstrous 7,714 yards but it plays a good deal shorter because the course is 4,500 feet above sea level. Nevertheless, the bombers have an advantage, especially Trey Mullinax.

For three rounds last year he was largely anonymous but a second round 62 showed his potential on the course. Mullinax eventually finished T11 and led the field in GIRs but simply couldn’t make enough putts.

Last year he hit two of the biggest drives all season, measuring 430-yards and 425-yards, more of the same and golf becomes quite easy.

The 24-year-old was in good shape after two rounds of the Lincoln Land Charity Championship last week and he should feature near the top of the leaderboard.
