Utah Championship Tips: Brandon Hagy

Monster hitter who shot a 65 in Monday qualifying despite a quadruple bogey.

With the bookmakers now wise to the talents of Trey Mullinax the hunt is one for the next bright young thing and there aren’t many better than Brandon Hagy.

Last season he won the Byron Nelson award for best graduating senior and was inside the top-10 World Amateur Rankings.

Hagy has since turned pro and made the most of the opportunities afforded to him. He finished T34 at Pebble Beach, T16 in Puerto Rico and even qualified for the US Open.

Although he has had limited starts on the Web.com Tour, he proved he can cut it at a higher level.

Hagy came through Monday qualifying for the Utah Championship in stunning fashion, shooting a 65 which included a quadruple bogey.

Hagy is part of the new breed of monster hitters, in practise rounds at Chambers Bay he was out hitting Adam Scott and Hideki Matsuyama with only Dustin Johnson able to match his length off the tee.

This bodes well for the challenge of a 7,700-yard course and he rates an excellent each-way bet at 110/1 (Sportingbet).
