Bubba Suited To Whistling Straits

Bubba Suited To Whistling Straits

Lost in a playoff in 2010 and tends to repeat his form at certain courses.

For such a talented golfer Bubba Watson has a surprisingly poor record in majors. Apart from his two wins at Augusta his next best is a playoff defeat in the 2010 US PGA at Whistling Straits.

The problem with Bubba is that his game isn’t suited to many courses on the major rotation. US Open and Open Championships are particularly poor fits and therefore his winning opportunities are limited.

Bubba seems to produce his best golf on a small subset of venues, which include:

Augusta (Masters) – 2-time winner
Doral (WGC) – Three top-3s in four years
TPC River Highlands (Traveleres) – 2 wins & 2 top-5s since 2010.

Whistling Straits could be another that falls into that category.

Bubba has the length and the imagination to tame the Wisconsin course and he couldn’t arrive in better form. He leads the tour in strokes gained tee-to-green and his putting is the best it’s ever been.

At 16/1 (Ladbrokes) he is an obvious choice but we should turn a profit with ¼ odds for a top-6 finish.
