US Open Tips: Hideki Matsuyama

Made a big breakthrough by winning the Memorial tournament, his first PGA Tour victory. Hugely talented and finished T10 on his US Open debut.

At the Masters we highlighted Hideki Matsuyama as a player to watch out for and although he missed the cut he proved to be the real deal by winning the Memorial tournament.

The 22-year-old was a prolific winner in Japan but he’s now proving his worth on the world stage. Last year he finished in the top-20 in the three majors he contested, including a T10 finish at the US Open.

Now he’s over the injuries that blighted the early part of his season, I expect Matsuyama to kick on and win again. It’s very difficult to find faults with his game and full of confidence I expect a bold showing at Pinehurst this week.

At 50/1 (Skybet) he is a cracking each-way bet with ¼ odds for a top-6 finish.
