US Open Tips: Dustin Johnson

Won last weekend, proving he is over his injury troubles. Best results have come on similar courses down the West Coast.

After an injury troubled year, it hasn’t taken long for Dustin Johnson to get back into the groove. Having missed the Masters with a back injury, he made his comeback at the start of June finishing T19 at the Memorial. A week later, he followed up with a win at the St. Jude Classic to prove he is back to full fitness and form.

Having blown a three-shot lead in the 2010 US Open, the 27-year-old looks for redemption on the West Coast where he has played some of his most memorable golf. Twice a winner of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, he seems at home on the windswept courses and their tiny greens.

A fantastic ball striker, and prodigious off the tee, Dustin Johnson isn’t just a bomber. Last week in Memphis he ranked T68 for bogeys, proving he can think his way around a tricky course and keep costly dropped shots off his card.

A six-time winner on tour, it is only a matter of time before he adds a major to his CV. At 30/1 (Paddy Power) he looks sure to mount a strong challenge this week. Back him each-way and get ¼ odds for a top-6 finish.
