US Open Golf Tips: Russell Henley
Multiple winner on tour who has the game for a US Open. Finished T16 and leading amateur in 2010.
Russell Henley isn’t the most consistent of golfers but he knows how to win, with two victories in 71 PGA Tour starts.
The next step for the 26-year-old is to compete on a regular basis for majors and the signs are encouraging.
He finished 21st at the Masters, his highest major finish since a T16 at the 2010 US Open as an amateur.
Of the four majors, the US Open looks the most natural fit. He is a terrific driver of the ball and an excellent putter and although his irons sometimes lack accuracy, it won’t matter at an Open where you have to play away from flags.
Henley’s season has been bubbling along nicely with three top-10s and seven top-25 finishes, including two in his last three starts.
At 150/1 (Ladbrokes), he is an excellent each-way bet with ¼ odds for a top-6 finish.
