Turkish Airlines Open Tip: Andy Sullivan

Turkish Airlines Open Tip: Andy Sullivan

Ranked in the top ten for driving distance, accuracy and GIRs in Portugal. Elite ball-striking performance only beaten by Harrington’s red-hot putter.

Andy Sullivan couldn’t quite get the job done in Portugal a fortnight ago but he played some terrific golf and can make amends in Turkey. Seemingly inspired by his peers at the Ryder Cup the Nuneaton man has returned to Europe with the bit between his teeth.

At the Portugal Masters, Sullivan ranked seventh for driving distance, second for driving accuracy and first for GIRs. It was an almost faultless display tee-to-green but he was undone by Harrington making some outrageous chips and putts.

Sullivan is four points shorter in a stronger field but there was so much to admire about his game and attitude. He finished fourth in Turkey in 2014 and although this is a different course, conditions should suit. At 16/1 he is a solid bet.
