20th Jun 2012 | Travelers Championship

Travelers Tips: Bo Van Pelt

Ranks 12th for birdie average on tour and finished T13 here last year. Almost the perfect course for him.

I’m even starting to bore myself with this tip but it is only a matter of time before Bo Van Pelt wins.

The US Open proved too much of a lottery; two good rounds of 70 & 71 were split by some high scoring - easily forgivable on such a tough course. Ignore that, and he has finished in the top-20 on his last three starts.

With an average winning score of 17.8-under-par, the Travelers Championship is a tournament where players need to go low. This shouldn’t be an issue for Bo Van Pelt who ranks 12th for birdie average and 4th for strokes gained putting.

Last year he shot four rounds in the 60s to finish T13, suggesting the course is a good fit for his game. At 28/1 (Bodog) he is going to win sooner rather than later and with ¼ odds for a top-5 finish, this could be the week.
