Travelers Championship Tips: John Senden

Had the worst of the draw at the US PGA but finished T18, his second consecutive top-25.

It’s been 11 years since John Senden last pitched up a TPC River Highlands but it is the first time it’s followed the PGA Championship (as opposed the US Open) and that makes a difference.

Senden finished T18 at Baltusrol despite getting the worst of the conditions. His afternoon tee times on day 1 meant he played the course at its firmest and also had to contend with gusting winds late in the day. Despite this handicap he opened with a round of 68 and never shot worse than 70 all week.

The 45-year-old seems to be enjoying a purple patch, he finished T23 the week before in Canada and we only have to go back to 2014 for his last tour win.

The veteran Australian ranks in the top-35 on tour for GIRs and strokes gained putting and in a potential shoot-out he rates a good bet at 150/1 (Paddy Power) with 1/5 odds for a top-7 finish.
