Travelers Championship Tips: Brendan Steele
Has cooled of slightly but his record at TPC River Highlands reads T13-MC-T13-T5
It has been a while since I’ve backed Brendan Steele, which is no bad thing as I was in danger of following him off a cliff earlier in the season but at TPC River Highlands he must enter the equation.
He has finished T13-MC-T13-T5 in his last four visits but a few missed cuts of late has seen his price drift out, despite a T9 at the Wells Fargo.
Ranked 18th in the PGA Tour’s all-around ranking there aren’t many weakness to his game, other than his streaky putting.
The move away from anchoring has caused the 32-year-old some problems under pressure, but the Travelers Championship hasn’t been won by a ‘great’ putter since Freddie Jacobsen in 2011.
Steele could be carried to victory on the back of his ball-striking ability and just a reasonable week on the greens should see him outrun odds of 45/1 (Bet365).
