Travelers Championship: Bubba Watson
Record at TPC River Highlands is T2-T38-1-T14-T6 and played well at the US Open on a course that didn’t suit his game.
Backers might have felt underwhelmed by Bubba Watson’s T32 finish at the US Open but I thought it was a very encouraging performance. I am surprised he finished so high up the leaderboard; Merion’s prerequisite of accuracy and patience aren’t the hallmarks of Bubba’s game!
I am confident the 2012 Masters Champion is in much better shape than recent results suggest and that is encouraging as he returns to TPC River Highlands.
Winner of the tournament in 2010, he has a tremendous record at the course. On his last five visits he has finished: T2-T38-1-T14-T6.
The 34-year-old has managed at least one victory on tour in each of the last three seasons and at 22/1 (Betfred) he is overpriced for another one. Back him each-way and get ¼ odds for a top-5 finish.
