TPC San Antonio Championship: Taylor Pendrith

Finished in top-3 on last two starts and did nothing wrong when chasing a red-hot Lipsky last Sunday. Oaks course a good fit as suits the long but wayward driver.

Regular readers will know how highly I rate Taylor Pendrith and I’ve been watching with interest as he’s gone close in the last couple of weeks. Since the return of golf he’s finished MC-14-44-3-2 and everything points to a player reaching the peak of his game.

Last week he lost nothing in defeat, but even firing 5 consecutive birdies on Sunday wasn’t enough to disrupt David Lipsky who made everything he looked at over the weekend. Sometimes you just have to hold you hands up.

I have no doubt that Pendrith will win on tour and TPC San Antonio looks a good fit. This week they play the Oaks Course, the same used for the Valero Texas Open on the PGA Tour and recent leaderboards suggest you can thrive if you are long (and wayward) off the tee. Two years ago Trey Mullinax almost landed a big pay-day and it would be fitting if his heir apparent in Pedrith did us a favour.

Given his excellent form and skills set I’m surprised he’s not second favourite in the betting.
