TPC San Antonio Challenge: Dawie van der Walt
Is 4/4 in cuts made since resumption of activities and been posting some of the best ball-striking numbers on tour. Two-time tour winner who lives in Texas and should enjoy conditions.
The Korn Ferry Tour moves to Texas this week for back-to-back events at TPC San Antonio; this time they will be using the Canyons Course. It is also a return home of sorts for Dawie van der Walt who was living 3 hours away in Kingwood, Texas - that is until his home got flooded by Hurricane Harvey in 2018. You can read the full story on here.
Understandably his golf game suffered as a result but the South African is fighting back. In 2019 he turned conditional status, into full status on the Korn Ferry Tour and he’s been using that stability to good effects with finishes of 14-28-8-44 since the resumption of golfing activities.
Since the Korn Ferry Tour resumed, the 37-year-old has been amongst the best ball-strikers on tour, he’s already shot two rounds of 63 and looks ready to win again. The South African is a two-time winner on tour, has his game in good shape and should be familiar with golf in this part of the US. It all points to a positive week.
