Tournament of Champions Tips: Webb Simpson
Finished T3-T11 on his last two visits to Kapalua and rounded off 2013 in fine style with two top-10s and a win.
Webb Simpson is someone I’ve struggled to predict but there is no doubt he is a very capable golfer as four tour wins testify.
A terrific iron player and deceptively long off the tee, Kapalua is the type of course that should suit the 28-year-old. He finished T3 at the course in 2012 and followed up with a T11 last year despite the bad weather.
The former US Open champion can be a slightly streaky putter, which probably explains my frustrations but he finished off 2013 with a win at the Shriners Hospitals Open and a T7 at the McGladrey Classic.
If he remains in that kind of form he should be in for a good week and is another solid each-way option at 9/1 (Bet365) with ¼ odds for a top-4 finish.
