The Players Championship Tips: Rickie Fowler
Defending champion whose results are trending in the right direction since he returned refreshed from his spring break.
TPC Sawgrass hosts the Players Championship this week and the iconic venue isn’t to everyone’s taste. The idiosyncratic nature of the course means it takes some getting used to and recent winners endured several failed attempts before cracking it.
Rickie Fowler produced a stunning finish to land the spoils last year and is the obvious starting point.
It’s feast or famine for Fowler at Sawgrass as his record reads MC-MC-2-MC-77-1 but he’s a more rounded player nowadays and arrives in decent form.
He failed to convert from a good position at the Wells Fargo but his results are trending in the right direction. Since he returned from spring break in the Bahamas he has finished T20-T4 and should be winner sooner rather than later.
Fowler leads the tour’s all-around ranking and should be shorter than his quote of 20/1 (Bet365) with 1/4 odds for a top-6 finish.
