Dye Another Day

Bookmakers have overreacted to an early exit in the WGC Match Play. Currently number one in the tour’s all-around ranking.

Jason Day’s defence of his WGC Match Play crown was short lived after he exited at the first round stage but the bookmakers have overreacted by pushing him out to 28/1 for the Players Championship.

Match play is a completely different beast to stroke play, you can play badly and win or play well and lose.

Having backed Jason Day at 16/1 to win the Masters it is crazy that we can back him a few weeks later at 28/1. It’s not like his form has fallen off a cliff either, he finished T4 in New Orleans, a tournament he could/should have won.

The young Australian didn’t enter TPC Sawgrass last year but he finished T19 in 2013 and T6 in 2011, so he can play the course well.

Day is currently number 1 on the PGA Tour’s all-around ranking and 28/1 (Stan James) is a steal with 1/4 odds for a top-6 finish.
