The Memorial Tournament Tips: Webb Simpson

Confidence in his game has returned with a second place at the RBC Heritage and a career best finish at the Players.

Sat 12th in the FedEx Cup Standings, on paper it looks like Webb Simpson is enjoying another fine year, but it has only been in the last month that he’s really found his game.

At the end of April, Webb Simpson lost in a playoff at the RBC Heritage but after the tournament, he spoke about how he’d struggled for confidence up until that point.

He followed up with a respectable T32 at the Wells Fargo but it was his T15 at the Players that really impressed, because it is a tournament he’s never played well in before.

Until three weeks ago, Simpson’s record at TPC Sawgrass was three missed cuts and a T69. A T15 finish was therefore a massive improvement and a signal that his game is coming together.

The world number 17 has a mixed record at Muirfield Village but he finished T7 in 2011 to suggest he can go well at the course.

At 50/1 (William Hill) he looks a lively each-way bet with ¼ odds for a top-5 finish.
