The Memorial Tip: Bryson DeChambeau

Been in excellent form the past couple of months and currently 11th in strokes gained tee-to-green. Putting has been steadily improving and finished T38 here on debut in 2016.

To win around Muirfield Village Golf Club you need excellence tee-to-green and Jason Dufner’s extraordinary win last year was a classic example. Dufner overcame a horrific third round, where he lost 4.8 strokes to the field putting, to still win the tournament.

In a strong line-up there’s plenty of elite ball-strikers but the most underrated is Bryson DeChambeau. The 24-year-old is currently 11th in strokes gained tee-to-green and has been in terrific form since withdrawing from the Valspar.

His results since then read 2-38-3-4-37-42 and he’s isn’t far away from his first win of the season. The weakness is DeChambeau’s game is his putting but he’s gained strokes on the field in five of his last six starts, his one bad tournament was at Colonial last week.

DeChambeau finished T38 on his debut at Muirfield Village in 2016, that was on the back of four consecutive missed cuts therefore we should upgrade the performance. In such a deep field it is worth taking the extra places at 50/1 with 1/5 odds for a top-8 finish.
