29th May 2012 | The Memorial Tournament

Memorial Tips: Carl Pettersson

Winner of the tournament in 2006 and currently playing the best golf of his career. Massively underrated in the betting.

The 2006 champion – Carl Pettersson is one of those golfers who is consistently underrated in the betting. He has five PGA Tour victories to his name, is ranked number 38 in the world, and yet is rarely spoken about on TV or in newspapers.

The big hitting Swede is enjoying one of his best seasons on tour. Ranked 8th in the FedEx Cup standings he has one victory and two runners-up spots to his name. He ranks an impressive 12th for adjusted scoring average, just one place below Luke Donald.

Given his impressive record I cannot understand why he sits 26th in the betting. He has course-winning form and is playing the best golf of his career.

Betfred offer a best price 80/1 but I recommend backing him at lower odds with Blue Square because of the extra each-way place. Back him each way at 70/1 (Blue Square) and get ¼ odds for a top-6 finish.
