Northern Trust Open Tip: Jason Day

Found form late in season. Last couple of starts has driven ball 20-yards further than his seasonal average.

Due to many external factors Jason Day hasn’t enjoyed a particularity good season on the golf course, he’s without a win on the PGA Tour and is 49th in the FedEx Cup but like Rory McIllroy did last year, there is still time to salvage something from the year.

The Australian has started to find form in the last month with finishes of T27-T24-T9 in his last three tournaments and that includes blowing a great position in the PGA Championship, closing with a quadruple bogey on Saturday.

For a 29-year-old who is consistently beset by ailments i’m particularity encouraged by his driving distance. On his last two starts he’s ranked inside the top-5 topping 336-yards at the WGC Bridgestone and 325-yards at the PGA. These are obvious framed by the courses he’s played but it and indication that he is fit and healthy and it’s a considerable improvement on his season average of around 304-yards.

A couple of seasons ago he tore through the Playoffs and he could do the same. Back Day at 22/1 with Paddy Power and get 7 places at 1/5 odds.
