St. Jude Classic Tips: Roberto Castro

In his last three tournaments he has, at different times, led the field for GIRs, putts and ranked T3 for driving accuracy. This could be the week when it all comes together.

Roberto Castro is another of the Nationwide Tour graduates who continues to impress on the main tour. Having made 9 out of 12 cuts so far he is quietly going about his business but a T19 at Colonial hinted at better things to come.

Looking at his recent exploits suggests he is on the verge of a big result if he can get all the areas of his game to function at once. At the Wells Fargo he ranked T1 for GIRs. At the Byron Nelson he led the field for putting and at Colonial he was T3 for driving accuracy. If he can bring this all together at one tournament he could win.

TPC Southwind could be that place, as the 26-year-old’s primary strength is his accuracy. He ranks 45th for driving accuracy and 15th for GIRs; he keeps the ball in-play and bogeys off his card.

At 150/1 (Ladbrokes) this could be the week when his entire game fires. Back him each-way and get ¼ odds for a top-5 finish.
