St. Jude Classic Tips: Graeme McDowell

Leads the PGA Tour for driving accuracy and tends to peak at this time of year with the US Open not far away.

Graeme McDowell might have missed some important cuts at the Players and the BMW PGA, but his overall profile is good. Looking at the positives, he was a runner-up at the World Match Play and at Bay Hill, both excellent results. The Northern Irishman seems to be regaining the form that made him a major winner in 2010.

The former US Open champion tends to peak at this time of year. With the season’s second major just a week away expect his game to be razor sharp. The key to his success is fairways and greens. He ranks 1st for driving accuracy on the PGA Tour and 18th for GIRs. An ideal set of attributes for TPC Southwind, a course that demands accuracy.

The last time McDowell played the St. Jude Classic, he finished T7 thanks to a round of 63 on Sunday. That proves he can play the course and at 28/1 (Stan James) he looks a rock solid each-way bet with ¼ odds for a top-five finish.
