St. Jude Classic Tips: Kevin Stadler

Enjoying his best ever season on tour thanks to improved putting. Finished T12 in 2009 and arrives in good form.

Kevin Stadler is enjoying his best season on tour, with $900,000 in earnings he has already eclipsed his 2011 total. With his card all but secure, he can concentrate on gaining his first win.

With eight top-25 finishes from 14 events, he is consistently in the top half of the leaderboard. Last week at the Memorial he played beautifully from tee to green, finding 75% of fairways and 68% of greens. More of the same and he should go well at the testing TPC Southwind.

The big change in Stadler’s game has been his putting. In the last five seasons he ranked a best of 138th for strokes gained putting, whereas this year he sits in 86th position, a dramatic improvement.

With the long-putter working, the 32-year-old should be able to compete for victories more frequently. He finished T12 at the St. Jude Classic back in 2009 and with his game in much better shape now, he looks a lively outsider at 100/1 (Paddy Power). Back him each-way and get ¼ odds for a top-5 finish.
