St Jude Classic Tips: Tim Wilkinson
Riding a wave of good form and hasn’t missed a cut since February. Shot a third round 65 at TPC Southwind last year.
At the time of writing, Tim Wilkinson is still playing in a rain-delayed US Open Qualifier but he’s in good shape in a tie for second. A busy week could take the edge off the New Zealander but on the other hand we know he’s playing well.
The 37-year-old has a somewhat journeyman profile but as we saw with William McGirt last week, that isn’t a barrier to victory. The good news is that Wilkinson is enjoying an excellent run of form. He hasn’t missed a cut since Pebble Beach in February and in his last six starts has finished 21-29-64-11-4-47.
Wilkinson also has plenty of experience of TPC Southwind. He missed his first three cuts but on his last two visits has finished 32-45 and shot a third-round 65 last year. His weakness is the driver but this is a second-shot course and his approach play (51st in strokes gained) and excellent putting can see him contend at 125/1 (Skybet).
