St Jude Classic Tips: Ryan Palmer

Has finished T3-4 in the last two years despite shooting over-par opening rounds. Just needs a solid Thursday to get into contention.

If Ryan Palmer could get to grips with the first round of the St Jude Classic then he’d already be a multiple winner.

In the last two editions he has finished T3-4 despite shooting opening rounds of 74 and 72; poor starts when you consider TPC Southwind is a par-70.

There is a suspicion that Palmer is a bit fragile and struggles under pressure; he’s finished second seven times compared to only three victories but this isn’t the strongest field he’ll ever face.

The big-hitting Texan has five top-10 finishes this year and looks a fair each-way bet at 28/1 (Stan James). In addition, there is always the possibility that he falls over the line and actually wins.
