St Jude Classic Tip: Chris Kirk
Shown nothing in two previous visits to TPC Southwind but ball-striking is on song and putting has improved in recent weeks. Ranked 31st in adjusted scoring average.
Chris Kirk has been on my radar for a couple of months now and although his record at TPC Southwind is modest at best, he seems to recaptured the form that made him a multiple PGA Tour winner.
Kirk is currently ranked 26th in strokes gained with approaches to the green and on point ball-striking is essential at TPC Southwind with fairways and greens hard to find.
Last season the 33-year-old missed the second cut on Saturday to take his record to MC-72 in two visits but that is not enough evidence to say he doesn’t like the course. A couple of top-15s finishes in his last five starts are evidence of his good play and he was going well last week at the Memorial before slipping back on Sunday.
At 80/1 he is a good each-way bet with Coral paying 7 places and 1/5 odds.
