South African Open Tips: Jason Scrivener

Has five top-30 finishes in his last five starts if you include Q-School and is ready to win at this level.

Andy Sullivan’s victory at the South African Open provided the springboard to a phenomenal year and it could do the same for Jason Scrivener. The 26-year-old Australian ended 2014 ranked 588th in the world but a terrific 2015 saw him rise to number 287 and he’s still on the way up.

Scrivener has finished T57-T3-T3-T27-T28 in his last five tournaments (with a T7 at Q-School thrown in for good measure) and I doubt the Christmas break will have dented his confidence.

A maiden tour win should be his goal for the forthcoming season and these weaker co-sanctioned events are there for the taking.

Scrivener also has the extra incentive that he was born in South Africa and probably can’t wait to get started in Johannesburg this week. At 60/1 (Bet365) he is an excellent each-way bet.
