South African Open Tip: Andy Sullivan

South African Open Tip: Andy Sullivan

Finished 2016 strongly with two top-3 in his last four starts and just a hot putter away from victory.

The European Tour season is already well under way but it reboots in 2017 with the South African Open. Rory McIlroy is the big draw and at 5/2 he dominates the market. He should win in this weak field but if anyone is to give him a scare it is Andy Sullivan.

For starters, he won’t be in awe of McIlroy if partnered together in any of the rounds. They get on well, played together in the Ryder Cup and Sullivan almost got the better of him in the 2015 DP World Tour Championship.

Sullivan’s been playing well for a while now without quite getting the results. He finished in the top-3 at the Portugal Masters and Nedbank Challenge with only his usually trusty putter letting him down.

If he returns in the same ball-striking vein he finished off 2016, he should be winning again soon.
