A Steeley Competitor

Phoenix Open Tips: A Steeley Competitor

Brendan Steele has a scoring average of 68.3 in twenty rounds at the Phoenix Open.

Brendan Steele momentarily gave us some excitement when he opened the Farmers Insurance Open with a round of 68. Unfortunately, he was unable to sustain his form over the weekend but he’s worth another chance.

After that first round he spoke about how he enjoys putting on Poa Annua greens, a view not widely held by his peers during the West Coast Swing.

Despite the difficulties posed by the weather at Torrey Pines, Steele finished the week hitting 68% of GIRs, which suggests his game tee-to-green is in good shape.

The 32-year-old has a terrific record at the Phoenix Open with finishes of T53-T5-T6-T6-T26 and only two over-par rounds during that period. At 66/1 (Sportingbet) he is a cracking each-way bet.
