Shriners Opens Tips: Tony Finau
The most exciting Web.com graduate on tour. Finished T12 last week but could have won if he sunk a few more putts.
For the last couple of weeks we have been touting the prospects of Tony Finau and at the Frys.com Open he didn’t disappoint.
Ok he didn’t make us any money but his T12 finish proved we are on the right track.
Having kept a close eye on his progress all week, it turns out he could have gone close to winning had he made a few more putts.
He shot a four-under round on Sunday but that was about the worst he could have scored. He hit 13 GIRs with approach shots finishing within 16 feet of the flag. Out of those 13 birdie opportunities he converted just three, with even a lukewarm putter he would have made five.
Finau bombs it off the tee and his iron play is dialled in. If he holes a few putts he’ll make a mockery of his 100/1 (Boylesports) quote.
