Shriners Open Tips: Will Wilcox

Recovered from knee injury and 7-week break to finish T10 at Frys. Second in last year’s all-around ranking splitting Day and Spieth.

Having started with conditional status on the PGA Tour and a world ranking of 315, it’s been a fabulous year for Will Wilcox.

The American is now ranked 132 in the world, has secured full playing privileges and can kick-on with his career.

In the second half of the season there weren’t many hotter players. In his last six starts Wilcox finished T8-2-T21-T10-T26-MC and that missed cut came at a time when he was struggling with a knee injury.

Wilcox managed a T10 last week after seven weeks off and that should set him up nicely for his first appearance at TPC Summerlin.

There is no reason why the Las Vegas course shouldn’t suit the 29-year-old. He finished last season second in the tour’s all-around ranking, splitting Jason Day and Jordan Spieth no less!

Despite his unconventional swing, he is the real deal and a cracking bet at 66/1 (Stan James) with ¼ odds for a top-6 finish.
