Shriners Open Tips: Kyle Stanley
Finished the web.com season with four top-10s in five starts and this week’s course should suit. Finished T10 in 2011.
After a difficult couple of seasons it’s great to see Kyle Stanley back at the top table ready to play some good golf.
Back in 2012, he looked like the next ‘big thing’ coming back from a desperate collapse at the Farmers to win the following week in Phoenix.
Unfortunately, his career suffered some set-backs most notably on the greens but his confidence is coming back. He finished the web.com season strongly with finishes of T9-T16-T7-MC-T5.
A shoot-out in Vegas might seem the wrong challenge for someone with a fallible putter but Stanley is such a terrific ball-striker he will create plenty of opportunities and his win at Phoneix bodes well.
The leaderboard at TPC Summer and TPC Scottsdale often contain the same players and the courses aren’t dissimilar, both have room off the tee and are set up for low scoring.
Stanley’s record at TPC Summerlin reads T27-T10-MC-MC but those missed cuts came at a time when he was struggling with his game.
At 150/1 (Coral) he is a great each-way bet.
