Houston Open: Wyndham Clark
Second in driving distance on tour and new season has provided a reset and some better results. Excellent record at Riviera and this weeks set-up (long and difficult) has obvious parallels.
Last year’s Houston Open was dominated by big-hitters and the course plays long and tough. As mentioned in other well researched articles Memorial Park shared a similair leaderboard (in terms of names) to Riviera another long but difficult course.
The name that leaps off the list is an old favourite of mine Wyndham Clark. The 27-year-old is still searching his maiden tour win but he is certainly good enough. His big price is largely down to a wretched end to last season and a slew of missed cuts but the new season has provided a reset and his four starts Clark has finished 30-MC-56-25.
Ranked second on tour for driving distance, he has the fire-power whilst in two starts at Riviera he has finished 17-8. The worry is he’s not been in contention for several months (his last top-10 was the Genesis Invitational) but he’s got the upside and the big price in his favour.
Betfair are paying 8 places at 1/5 odds.
