Scottish Open Tips: Jimmy Walker

Largely dismissed because he isn’t a ‘links golfer’ but he has won on a variety of course layouts in the US and is a three-time winner this season.

The Scottish Open has a fascinating mix of European and PGA Tour players, with several Americans coming over early to get some links practice ahead of the Open Championship.

The PGA is the stronger of the two tours and we saw last week how Kevin Stadler overcame a lack of course experience to almost win the Open de France.

Class travels and for that reason I think Jimmy Walker must be backed at 45/1 (Skybet).

The 35-year-old is one of the most improved players on the PGA Tour. He’s won three times already this season and leads the FedEx Cup standings.

The world number 18 isn’t just a ‘target’ golfer, he’s won around Pebble Beach and has finished T8-T9 in the last two majors. Proving he has the imagination to play pretty much any course.

His lack of links experience is overplayed and that means we can get a juicy 45/1 (Skybet) with ¼ odds for a top-6 finish.
