Sanderson Farms Championship: Trey Mullinax

Sanderson Farms Championship: Trey Mullinax

Made the cut last year and T22 at the Safeway Open suggests he can make the jump in grade this season.

Sat opposite the HSBC Champions, the Sandersons Farms Championship has a Web.com feel to it and although that means tour rookies are shorter than they were are the Safeway Open we can still back Trey Mullinax at a triple figure price.

These early season events are ideal opportunities for Web.com Tour graduates to make their mark as Peter Malnati did last year and that is where I’m focusing my attention.

Regular readers will know I’m a massive fan of Trey Mullinax and although I have him earmarked for the Shriners next week there is a danger he wins early. He put in a fine showing at the Safeway Open to finish T22 and has the bonus of having played at Country Club of Jackson last year.

Mullinax finished a lowly 73rd but opened with rounds of 68-70 and is a far better player twelve months down the line. There is a danger he won’t find enough fairways this week but at 100/1 he has to enter our staking plan.
